I’M A BELIEVER; ARE YOU?

Last week I began to tell you some of the Biblical facts about God and Jesus that I believe; although I only listed a few thoughts concerning what I believe I would like to add a few more this week. Please bear with me as I will add more of what I believe!

I believe that God is a God of LOVE; (2 Cor 13:11) “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” The word “love” perfectly describes the character of God. If you desire to know what “love” really is open your Bible and read about God. The apostle John wrote the truth about God: (1 John 4:8) “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” This must be the very best way to describe God. Friends, God has taught us how to love! Can you imagine what this world would be like if there was absolutely no love displayed by anyone? A lack of love is surely the cause of the many murders that we have in our world. If you love someone there simply is no way that you could or would kill that person. I believe we must exercise the love that God has taught us.

I believe that God loves us so much that He made the supreme sacrifice for us: (John 3:16 )“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Anyone who has children surely realizes what a sacrifice this was for God to make. God allowed His Only Begotten Son to be a sacrifice for you and I. Friends, that is love! When you consider what kind of people it was that that Christ suffered and died for the sacrifice of God becomes even greater: (Rom 5:8) “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Ask yourself, “Would I do that for those who are my enemies?” This is exactly what God did for you and I. Think about this; God is all powerful; can you imagine the resistance and will power that would cause God to watch from heaven as they crucified Jesus? Perhaps this thought will help you to appreciate God’s love for us even more.

Next I will state briefly what I believe about Jesus Christ. I believe that God has a love for His Son: (John 15:9) “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. Here Jesus declares that the Father loves Him. Do you believe Jesus? I do!

I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin: (Matt 1:18) “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” I believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost: (Matt 1:20) “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.” Why do I believe this? I believe this because it fulfilled prophecy: (Matt 1:22–23) “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” I believe that Jesus was divinely named: (Matt 1:21) “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Furthermore, I believe that this miraculous birth took place for a reason and that reason is stated in Matthew one, verse twenty one; “he shall save his people from their sins”

I believe while Jesus was on this earth He did God’s will: (John 15:10) “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” Yes, I believe that Jesus did what God commanded Him resulting in Jesus abiding in God’s love. I also believe that if you and I keep the commandments of Jesus that we can expect to abide in the love of Jesus.

I hope that you understand that I am a believer of God and His inspired Word. Now I ask, “Are you a believer also?”
